Equipment

  • Oven-safe skillet or baking dish
  • Large saucepan
  • Medium skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Eggplant sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 1 Large Potato sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 1/2 lb Ground Lamb
  • 1 Small Onion Sliced
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic Minced
  • 1/4 cup Red Wine
  • 1 Can Diced Tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • Salt To Taste
  • Pepper To Taste
  • 1 cup Béchamel Sauce
  • 1 cup Crumbled Feta Cheese
  • A sprinkle of love and laughter

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange your eggplant and potato slices on a baking sheet, lightly oil, salt, and bake for 15 minutes or until tender.
  • Meanwhile, in your skillet, cook the ground lamb over medium heat until browned. Discard the excess fat.
  • Add the onion and garlic to the skillet with the lamb, cooking until the onion is translucent, a sweet gesture like the twinkle in your lover's eyes.
  • Pour the wine into your skillet, allowing it to simmer and reduce. The aroma will fill your kitchen like a secret whispered in the moonlight.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes and cinnamon, then season with salt and pepper. Let this simmer for about 15 minutes, the flavors mingling like two lovers' hands intertwined.
  • Now, let's layer our whispers. In your oven-safe dish, layer the eggplant, followed by the potato slices. Spoon the lamb mixture over this, then pour over your béchamel sauce, covering like a warm embrace. Sprinkle the feta on top, like stars twinkling in the night sky.
  • Bake this for about 45 minutes, or until golden. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving, like a soft sigh of contentment after a slow dance.
  • Bon appétit, my dear lovers. Here's to shared smiles, to love, and to an unforgettable Greek getaway right in your kitchen.
